I've got a canal narrow boat fitted with a Lister SR2 engine and LH150 gearbox. When we bought the boat last year it hadn't moved for about four years, and the gearbox had water intrusion ( possibly through the dipstick which sits low in the bilge.

We had a few days out on the boat in May / June, and now the problem has returned ( no neutral or reverse ) - I've topped the lubricant levels correctly and set the 'Ahead Adjustment' screw in the gearbox to the recommended spacing, has anyone out there any advice before I phone the mechanic ($$$) again? *note - this is a hydraulic gearbox, and works using pressure. Now faced with having to take the gearbox out and checking the pump etc. And pos send it away to get reconned $$$ (sic) oh well bang goes the summer!
