Hi, I browsed this great website before I headed out to buy my first BR player today. I couldn't find anything about a codefree DVD hack for the model I wanted though. However, I went ahead and bought the player anyway. Somehow I found a thread here talking about a different Samsung model where a hack seemed to be working. I tried it and it also worked for mine. (Samsung BD-5500) Here is what I did: Turn on the BR player and wait until the main menu is showing. Then press the button REPEAT and enter the following code for the region you are located.


In my case I entered 57538 (region 2). Adywans Star Wars Purist Edition Definition. If you did it right a number shows in the top left corner of the screen (in my case it was a 3) as soon as you see it, push the number 9 on the remote.
Turn the player off and back on, it should be code free for DVDs at least. This device is sold in Australia as a locked region 4 DVD and region B Blue-ray player. There is no current procedure for unlocking the Blue-ray and it is probably not necessary because over 80% of released disks are region free anyway. (Just don't ever buy the other 20% and they will get the message soon enough!)
